For these 4 samples I was now using a wet medium (watercolours) and also during these samples I was practising with different resist techniques that could be used to create different looks and feels.
On this first sample I drew the vertical lines using an oil pastel. After this I lightly painted over the whole section with 2 watercolours and because water and oil don't mix they resist each other to create this striped look.
For the second sample I put random dollops of glue around the area using a spreader, I then had to wait for the glue to dry. After this I lightly painted over the area, this created the rough/bumpy surface.
On the third sample I tore pieces of masking tape, stuck them down randomly onto the page. Next I lightly painted over everything with the watercolours to create this look where the masking tape is very defined.
On this last sample I cut various sizes of string and stuck them down in different places and positions using glue and a spreader. I then lightly painted over everything. Finally I peeled off one piece of string to create the white line.
On the next 2 samples I used watercolours again but was now working with primary colours.
On this first sample I only used the primary colours transitioning from yellow - blue - red - yellow. I had to mix the colours in between the colour change to make secondary colours, so in theory the order should go; yellow - green - blue - purple - red - orange - yellow.
For this sample I split the area into 8 sections, I then painted each section with a different colour which was slightly diluted. After all of the sections were dry I then used the same colours but they were more concentrated and I only used the tip of my paintbrush to create the thin dark lines on each section.
For the next 9 samples I was using acrylic paint.
Using a paintbrush I mixed the colours red and blue to create purple.
Using a paintbrush I mixed the colours yellow and blue to create green
Using a paintbrush I mixed the colours red and yellow to create orange.
Using a cotton bud I dabbed the colour yellow at the top and red at the bottom. As they both met in the middle the colour orange was created.
This time with the cotton bud I used the colours red and blue to create the colour purple in the middle when they met.
Finally with the cotton bud I used the colours yellow and blue to create the colour green in the middle of the sample.
With this sample I used a glue spreader to spread the red acrylic to about half-way down. I used the glue spreader with the white acrylic from the bottom up to create this light red/pink and to give the overall look difference and variety.
I used the same technique for this second sample except I used yellow acrylic.
Also for the final sample I used the same technique as the past 2 samples except I used blue acrylic.
