For my final outcome I decided to use chalk pastels and watercolour pencils as they were both my favourite mediums to work with. The chalk pastels were one of the favourite because of the overall smooth look and the colours that they produced. I chose the watercolour pencils because they also allowed me to work in colour but as they have a thin/sharp tip it was easy to create precise details. For the sky I only used chalk pastels, I used the side of a blue pastel to cover the general area and then smudged it using my finger. The mountain was a mixture of both mediums, for the main mountain itself I used the same technique as the sky except with a brown pastel and for the shading on the mountain I used 2 different coloured watercolour pencils for extra detail. The dark grass was a dark green pastel smudged, the sun is yellow and orange pastels blended together. For the larger sections of grass I covered the area using a light green watercolour pencil and the added water and spread the colour evenly throughout the sections, for the blades of grass I only used the tip of a dark green watercolour pencil and didn't add water as I didn't want the colour to spread. The river is a mixture of light blue, dark blue and white pastels blended together by using my finger to smudge it. The minor trees are watercolour pencils, I only used the tip again but I used the colours brown and a dark green. However for the main tree I used a light green chalk pastel to get the overall shape, I then added the detail by using 2 different coloured greens for the watercolour pencils. The bark of the tree is a brown watercolour pencil with dark brown streaks for extra detail. Finally the fence is just a red watercolour pencil. I feel that these two mediums worked extremely well together, I had no issues when they came into contact with each other and I am very pleased with the finished outcome. I would not change anything about this piece if I was to do this again.
